Fall is officially here, and that means it’s back to school, back to work after summer vacations, and a chance to do something truly great for yourself: getting involved in your state association, MACVB.
Our Annual Meeting is just around the corner. That means wonderful opportunities to network with colleagues from across the state. To go from being friendly rivals in attracting a share of the tourism business, to being friends and sharing our best ideas with each other to raise the bar for Minnesota and for our profession. While we will have some great speakers, as always, we will also have an opportunity or two to share what keeps us up at night and find out how others deal with similar issues. Funding? Political concerns? Staffing? Board and Volunteer Issues? Pay and benefits? Problem employee? Negotiating a lease? It’s all on the table. Bring your thorniest questions and hear how others cleared these and other obstacles.
Another great opportunity that will present itself will be the chance to work alongside of some of your colleagues by becoming involved in a committee. Most of these committees meet over the phone as we are (obviously) spread throughout the state.

There is something for everybody! Plus, it’s a great opportunity to get to know other tourism professionals from throughout the state. Who knows when you might need help with an issue, be looking for an employee, or even looking for a new employer. Whatever your needs, connecting with others in the same boat is invaluable.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
