By the time you receive this newsletter, we will have celebrated the first day of Spring! Hearty Minnesotans know that Spring on the calendar can be very different from actual Spring weather! Nonetheless, it gives us an opportunity to re-focus our tourism marketing efforts for the change of seasons. The MACVB Education Series session scheduled for April speaks to that! Chris Lukenbill of Shrpa will be talking with us about leveraging user generated content to promote outdoor activities and adventures for our tourism audiences. Be sure to see the details and registration information later in this newsletter.
I don’t want to miss the opportunity to thank the silent auction committee led by committee chair, Tim Zunker. Because of the efforts of the committee, our members and industry partners, the auction generated over $31,000 for MACVB; making our largest fundraiser of the year a great success! We are grateful for your participation and your continued support of MACVB.
At the March meeting of the board of directors, we accepted the resignation of board member, Lisa Peterson, Northfield and appointed Julie Wearn, Roseville to fill the seat and complete the term which ends December 31, 2021. We thank Lisa for her service to this organization and welcome Julie to the Board. Additionally, the board voted to designate a reserve fund of $50,000 for the organization which is the equivalent of 6-months of operating expenses. This move keeps our organization financially strong and insures we will be here to serve our members long into the future.
As always, please remember that your hard work does not go unnoticed. Take some time to get out and enjoy the Spring season; I look forward to seeing you all soon!
