Hi all –
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I sure did! My daughter and I started out the day with some close friends and some fine cigars. Then we watched football and cleaned the house. After that, we cooked up (okay, heated up) the entire feast all by ourselves, so that when my wife got home from work, it was all ready to go! ?
As I wind down my year as Chair of the Board and look to hand over the reins of the organization to our incoming chair, our friend from Lake of the Woods Tourism Joe Henry, I would like to offer a final challenge to each of my colleagues out there:
YES – THIS MEANS YOU!
We will be holding our annual Silent Auction event at the annual Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference in March. My challenge for each of you is, in addition to your CVB’s donation, and those other items that you may solicit to show off your communities, for each of you to consider making a personal donation as well: 1 bottle of your personal favorite “spirit”. It can be anything really; Bombay Sapphire, Jose Cuervo, Glenlivet, Stolichnaya, Pappy Van Winkle’s, Baily’s Irish Cream…You get the idea. Just one bottle. We’ll probably take those individual bottles and make up some Pretty Sweet Packages that you can bid on at the event. Just think of it! You could share a package with a loved one or do a taste-testing event with some of your friends. Or you could have one helluva party! Just don’t forget to invite the guy who told you about this great idea! (That’s me, in case you didn’t follow my obvious, self-serving ploy.)
Anyway, that’s my challenge. I hope you’ll rise to the occasion!
Happy Holidays to you all!
Dave
