What’s Next
With the holiday weekend approaching, we find ourselves trying to squeeze as much summer in as we can. This time of year is always bitter sweet for me. Yes, I am sad that the short wearing, s’more eating, boat cruising, still light at 9pm, time is slipping away, but cool nights and crisp mornings are soon upon us. Many have children or grandchildren who are looking to start a new school year, we as DMO’s are looking at 2020 budgets and marketing plans as we start preparing for the “new” or the “next”. The “next” for MACVB will be our Annual Meeting.
MACVB along with the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism are excited for our upcoming Annual Conference held October 1-2, 2019. The Education Committee has been hard at work pulling together a great agenda with plenty of opportunities to gather for learning, networking and leadership. We’ll be looking at stakeholders; who are they, what do they want and need from us as DMOs and what are we looking for from them. A hot topic in the tourism industry is Tourism Districts. We’ll hear from an expert on what this is, how they work, and what it could mean for our industry. Explore Minnesota Tourism Director, John Edman will present on Growing Tourism in Minnesota and what’s new for EMT. Our lobbying team Todd Hill and Tony Kwilas will be on hand to provide us with an overview of what we might see and what we’re preparing for in the 2020 legislative session. Finally yet importantly, you will have an opportunity to hear about the new six-part webinar series to be launched in November of this year in partnership with MACVB and the University of Minnesota Tourism Center. We have a great couple of days planned in Faribault and would love to have you join us.
If you have not done so already, make sure to register! I’m excited to see many of you in October in Faribault!
